Great Lakes Theater Announces Youth Auditions for 2027 Production of "Les Misérables"

Seeking young performers for the roles of Gavroche and Young Cosette

CLEVELAND, OH — Great Lakes Theater (GLT) is seeking curious, imaginative young performers for the roles of Gavroche and Young Cosette for its 2027 professional production of Les Misérables, Victor Hugo's epic and deeply moving story of redemption, love and revolution. This is a unique opportunity for young performers to work in a professional, supportive rehearsal room.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Friday, September 18, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Young performers should be prepared to sing up to 16 bars and will receive sides upon sign-up. Auditionees should also be prepared to play, move and explore the room. Auditions will be conducted by Victoria Bussert, Sara Bruner and Matthew Webb.

Audition appointments must be reserved online by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026. To schedule an audition, please visit greatlakestheater.org/work-with-us/auditions. Roles Available:

Gavroche: A brave and energetic boy who joins the student revolutionaries. He loves adventure and isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in.

Seeking:

• Young performer, ages 9–12
• Male-identifying
• Open to all races and backgrounds
• Brave, energetic, and full of spirit
• Comfortable with text and movement; no extensive experience required

Young Cosette: A kind girl who is treated poorly by the Thénardiers. She becomes close with Valjean, who takes her in and cares for her like a daughter.

Seeking:

• Young performer, ages 7–11, under 5 feet tall
• Female-identifying
• Open to all races and backgrounds
• Kind, sensitive, and comfortable with text
• No extensive experience required

Rehearsals are February 16 – March 6, 2027. Performances are scheduled from Friday, March 12 – Sunday, April 11, 2027, with 7:30 PM performances Wednesday – Saturday, 1:30 PM Saturday Matinees, 3:00 PM Sunday Matinees and 10:00 AM Student Matinees on select Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the run. NOTE: Due to truancy laws in Ohio, please be certain to check with your school's administration office regarding attendance policies.
