Introducing the Great Lakes Theater Teacher Workshop Series—a comprehensive professional development workshop series designed to equip teachers with the tools and confidence to bring Shakespeare's timeless works to life in the classroom.

This series delves into Shakespeare's most celebrated plays, offering educators innovative strategies to make the Bard's language and themes accessible and engaging for students of all levels. Through interactive sessions, participants will explore performance-based techniques, active learning approaches, and practical methodologies drawn from GLT’s renowned 45-year residency program.

Discover dynamic, hands-on strategies to bring the Bard’s words to life for your students, all while meeting state curriculum standards. Participants will come away with innovative lesson plans and practical teaching techniques you can apply right away.

2-Day Workshop

SHAKESPEARE INTENSIVE

Join us for two thrilling days of immersive instruction with the Great Lakes Theater education team! Delve into Shakespeare’s language, engaging with the text both as performers and educators. Enjoy a captivating lecture from a Shakespearean scholar and performer to deepen your understanding of Shakespeare’s work. You’ll also explore the iconic theaters of Playhouse Square, including the historic Hanna and Mimi Ohio Theaters, home to Great Lakes Theater. Participants will earn 16 contact hours upon completing the course. These hours may be applicable toward license renewal—be sure to consult your LPDC guidelines for details.

Creating a personal connection to classical works help students develop a love of literature that will last a lifetime. GLT will focus on curriculum standard texts Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hamlet and Macbeth to help you create strategies to guide your students to a deep understanding and personal passion for Shakespeare’s works.
