HOOKED: A Crochet Crash Course for Beginners

This live, virtual 4-session course is limited to 10 guest slots.
Start your new year off right by learning a new skill. Great Lakes Theater costume shop artisan Leah Loar will teach you the craft of crocheting over the course of four, engaging, two-hour Zoom sessions throughout the month of January. (No prior experience necessary!) By the end of the month, you’ll have created a trendy “Snowflake Slouch Hat” to keep your head warm throughout the rest of the cold Northeast Ohio winter.
Great Lakes Theater Provides:
- 8 hours of personal instruction
- A printable PDF pattern
- Helpful resources to prepare (tips, etc.)
Participant Provides:
- A crochet hook (size “I” or 5.5mm)
- A tapestry needle
- Approximately 400 yards of yarn, light (3) or sport weight
- A safety pin or bobby pin
- A pair of scissors

Session 1 – Tuesday, January, 5 (6:30p-8:30p): How to crochet the basic stitches
Session 2 – Tuesday, January 12 (6:30p-8:30p): How to “cast on” and crochet the flower
Session 3 – Tuesday, January 19 (6:30p-8:30p): How to crochet the two-row lace repeat
Session 4 – Tuesday, January 26 (6:30p-8:30p): How to crochet the ribbing to finish the hat
