David Hansen was a Great Lakes Theater actor-teacher for three years before become associate supervisor for the program in 2004. Since that time he has also served numerous creative capacities at GLT, including performing in the mainstage productions The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Tempest, and gracing GLT promotional materials from 2004-2011 as “Mr. Shakespeare”.
He became Education Outreach Associate in 2013. David has performed in GLT outreach tours, including Chekhov’s On The Harmful Effects of Tobacco and as Arthur Miller in Seeing Red. David also wrote and performed in the outreach touring plays On The Dark Side of Twilight, the Agatha Christie adaptations The Mysterious Affair at Styles and The Secret Adversary, and a prequel to Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing entitled Double Heart (The Courtship of Beatrice and Benedick).
David has performed his award-winning solo performance on stillbirth, I Hate This (a play without the baby) in Cleveland, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City and on a tour of Great Britain, and in 2009 David took his solo performance And Then You Die (How I Ran a Marathon in 26.2 Years) to the New York International Fringe Festival. David is a member of the Dramatists' Guild of America. He received a BFA in Theatre Arts from Ohio University.
