Visitor Health & Safety FAQs

Updated 11.22.21

As a resident company of Playhouse Square, we will be following the policies and protocols laid out for all guests based on Playhouse Square's Healthy Together guidelines.

What is your vaccination policy?

  • All audience members ages 12 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • "Fully vaccinated” means that 14 days have passed since either the second shot of a CDC or WHO-approved two-shot vaccine or since the administration of a CDC or WHO-approved one-shot vaccine.
  • Those audience members who cannot be vaccinated will be required to provide proof of a negative test result received from a completed lab-certified antigen COVID-19 test within 24 hours prior to entering the theater or a negative test result received from a completed PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering the theater. The BinaxNOW COVID-19 Home Test (the version requiring a virtual appointment) is an acceptable option. More information about COVID-19 testing is available on local or state Department of Health websites.
  • Ticket holders must show proof of vaccination or negative test at their time of entry into the theater with a valid ticket.
  • Ticket holders may present proof of vaccination or negative test on paper or a smartphone.
  • In addition to proof of vaccination or negative test result, all guests 18 years or older must also present ID, such as a driver's license or passport.

  • Children under 12 must wear a mask but are not required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend a performance at Playhouse Square.

  • Children ages two and under are not permitted in Playhouse Square venues at any time.

What is your mask policy?

Masks are required for all individuals, including children, in all areas of Playhouse Square, including the Hanna Theatre and Mimi Ohio Theatres where Great Lakes Theater performs.

What is your sick policy?

Ticket holders who have been exposed to COVID-19 and/or are experiencing symptoms are asked to remain at home.

Please know that your Great Lakes Theater ticket purchases remain 100% guaranteed against pandemic-related changes. We remain flexible in our ticketing options and strive to provide customer service of the highest quality. Should your plans change, please contact us to discuss your options:

What can I expect when I arrive at the theatre?

Per Playhouse Square's Healthy Together guidelines, the following precautions will be in place:

Cashless Transactions: All transactions inside the theaters will be cashless. All food and beverage purchases must be made with a valid debit or credit card, or with mobile wallet options such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. Cash accepted at all merchandise and souvenir locations.

Air Quality: Playhouse Square has the latest HVAC technology, including air handlers equipped with MERV 13 rated filters, which are known to trap COVID-19 particles. As an additional measure, GPS brand bi-polar ionization, which is known to reduce risk from COVID-19, has been installed in our HVAC system. The theaters will be prepared by running portable HEPA filter units for three hours prior to each performance.

Enhanced Cleaning: We are following enhanced cleaning and strict disinfection protocols.

Clean Hands: We have hand sanitizer available in the theaters and encourage guests to wash their hands frequently.

Seating: All engagements will be ticketed up to full capacity.

What are my ticketing options?

Please consider digital ticket delivery for an easy, touch-free experience. However, paper tickets will still be available. As a reminder, all guests must have a ticket.

These guidelines are subject to change, so please check back often and before your visit to Great Lakes Theater or other venues within Playhouse Square for the latest updates.
