We are saddened to share the extremely difficult news that we must cancel our traditional, annual production of A Christmas Carol on stage at the Mimi Ohio Theatre, Playhouse Square. After much deliberation, given challenges related to the pandemic, we have determined that it is not possible to safely rehearse and perform such a large-cast production. Despite our concerted efforts, sometimes the show cannot go on, especially when the health and safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is our top priority.
We are working closely with our partners at Playhouse Square, the unions that represent our artists, and state/local government health officials to explore alternate holiday programming options (a smaller scale staged reading, virtual presentation, etc.). We will keep you apprised as explorations evolve and plans develop.
We are committed to your satisfaction as a valued patron of Great Lakes Theater. We thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate the complexities of this situation and strive to provide customer service of the highest quality.
The following options are available to resolve your existing tickets to our cancelled production of A Christmas Carol.
Donate the value of your ticket(s) back to Great Lakes Theater. We are especially grateful for such vital support. Your donation will go a long way toward ensuring our future during this challenging time. An acknowledgement letter that formally recognizes your tax-deductible donation will be mailed to you soon. Additionally, we look forward to celebrating your generosity by including your name in future donor recognition lists on our website and within our playbill publications.

Regarding the remaining productions in our 2020-21 season: We are still exploring myriad programming options regarding how we might produce in the winter/spring of 2021. We will keep you apprised of developments and share definitive updates as our path forward becomes clearer.
On behalf of all of us at Great Lakes Theater, we thank you for your understanding, loyalty, and continued extraordinary support as we navigate this journey - and endure this extended “intermission” - together. We look forward to to the time when we can gather with you, once again at the theatre, when the time is right and safe.
In the meantime, as a lodestar to guide us as we navigate through these challenges, we share a quote from William Shakespeare.
“Have patience and endure.”
