DonateWe are announcing a new, 2021-22 transition plan that addresses ongoing pandemic-related challenges. While the plan necessitates additional production cancellations in the near term, it also charts a hopeful path forward to position the theater for long-term success.
According to the plan, we must unfortunately cancel the remaining productions in Great Lakes Theater’s 2020-21 season (Black Coffee, The Tempest, and The Marvelous Wonderettes). After much deliberation, we have determined that it is not yet possible in this pandemic for safe rehearsal and performance. The health and safety of our patrons, artists, and staff remains our top priority.
Despite these imminent cancellations, the future is bright! We are thrilled to announce a new 2021-22 season – featuring a lineup that includes many of the productions that have been cancelled due to the pandemic. Our new season will commence in the fall of 2021 with the jazzy musical celebration of Fats Waller, Ain’t Misbehavin’, presented in repertory with Shakespeare’s sublime battle of wits and wills, Much Ado About Nothing. Our annual production of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, will return to the Mimi Ohio Theatre stage during the holidays. The winter/spring of 2022 will feature Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot thriller, Black Coffee, followed by Shakespeare’s enchanting romantic comedy, As You Like It, and the effervescent ‘50s jukebox musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes.
We remain committed to your satisfaction as a valued patron of Great Lakes Theater. We thank you in advance for your continued understanding and patience as the theater’s staff strives to provide customer service of the highest quality.
To this end, in the interest of making the transition process as efficient and easy as possible for our current ticketholders:
No immediate action is required at this time. Outreach to ticketholders will begin in early February by mail to begin the next phase of our ticket resolution process.
On behalf of all of us at Great Lakes Theater, we thank you for your understanding, loyalty, and continued support. We look forward to gathering with you again in the Hanna Theatre beginning this fall.
In the meantime, we share this quote from William Shakespeare.

Stay safe! We wish you well.
