The Development Associate at Great Lakes Theater is a key mid-level professional that supports the full range of fundraising and organizational activities performed by Great Lakes Theater’s Development Office.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Gift Processing, Donor Records and Database Support (Raisers’ Edge)
---Receives, processes and acknowledges all contributed income using industry best practices.
---Initiates/prepares monthly membership renewals and pledge reminder mailings.
---Maintains accurate donor records in database and synchronizes updates with other in-house
databases.
---Ensures that complete hard and electronic donor records are maintained, indexed, and properly
archived.
---Identifies and ensures that consistent donor data entry procedures for GLT’s Raisers’ Edge
database system are used.
---Serves as the primary resource person for GLT’s Raisers’ Edge database including overseeing
upgrades, licensing and training subscriptions.
2. Donor Relations and Support
---Is a frontline, one-stop resource for donor and patron questions and issues and for Development
Office event programs and events.
---Helps develop, coordinate, and staff Development Office events from open houses to annual
fundraising events.
---Assists with ticket sales and exchanges for trustees and donors, working closely with
PlayhouseSquare ticket sales and GLT’s Marketing Department.
---Ensures that donor benefits are fulfilled in a timely fashion for all Development Office programs.
---Assists with maintaining accurate donor listings in the Playbill, Hanna Lobby and Hanna Theatre
listings.
3. Development Office Support
---Maintains the Development Office calendar on Outlook with key project, grant, report and event
deadlines.
---Assists with the preparation of monthly reconciliation and expense reports, as well as the annual
department budget.
---Generates analytic reports regularly for contributed income reports and dashboards.
---Conducts and maintains donor research on individuals and foundation/corporation funders.
---Assists with funding requests and reports to funders.
---Helps draft, proof, assemble and deliver fundraising reports and proposals.
---Assists with developing and updating donor acknowledgment and reminder templates.
---Assists with the research and development of Development Office literature and web site material.
---Maintains an adequate inventory of stationery, brochures and literature for projects and mailings.
4. Administrative Support
---Helps to process ticketing requests for donors and company members.
---Works with office volunteers and interns to implement organizational projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
---Bachelor’s degree in related field (business, nonprofit management, and/or arts)
---3 years minimum in nonprofit fundraising, development or similar work
---Proficient in MS Office 2010 with a knowledge of Publisher or other desktop publishing software
helpful
---Strong background in database software, preferably Raisers’ Edge
---Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
---Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
---Financial acumen
---Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment

Starting salary for this position is competitive.
