Agatha Christie's Mystery Masterpiece THE MOUSETRAP Kicks Off Second Half of Great Lakes Theater's 50th Season

The Queen of Mystery’s world-renowned whodunit celebrates
60 years this season as the longest running play in theater history.
Great Lakes Theater’s production is one of 60 official stagings
worldwide that will commemorate the play’s diamond anniversary.

CLEVELAND, OH - Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Cleveland’s Classic Company, commences the second half its 50th anniversary season with Agatha Christie’s murder mystery masterpiece, The Mousetrap. The production will be performed in the company’s revolutionary and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, PlayhouseSquare, March 9-25. 2012. Drew Barr directs the production; the first staging of Christie’s classic in the company’s history.

Great Lakes Theater Seeks Original Student Music for 2012 Songwriting Contest

Great Lakes Theater, in partnership with WCPN 90.3 FM ideastream, invites students to submit new, original music inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet for its 2012 songwriting contest.  The contest is open to soloists or bands. All middle and high school students that reside in Ohio are eligible. Music submissions of all styles and genres are accepted, including instrumentals.

Four grand prize winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. Each grand prize winning entry will receive a $250 cash prize, a professionally engineered recording in WCPN’s state-of-the-art studio, commemorative CDs and a radio broadcast of the song on a special edition of WCPN’s Around Noon on April 23, 2012 (Shakespeare’s birthday!).

Great Lakes Theater Presents Free Touring Production of Agatha Christie's THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES

The world premiere adaptation will visit twenty-one venues across northeast Ohio.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) will launch a world premiere adaptation of Agatha Christie’s THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES (Styles), a free one-hour touring production scheduled to visit twenty-one neighborhood venues throughout northeast Ohio, to kick off the company’s 2012 series of Surround outreach programming. The play, adapted from Christie’s novel by NE Ohio playwright and Associate Supervisor of GLT’s School Residency Program, David Hansen, features a touring company of five actors and is directed by Lisa Ortenzi. The tour commences on February 14th, continues through March 7th and is designed to support Great Lakes Theater’s upcoming mainstage production of The Mousetrap...

Great Lakes Theater Shines Holiday Spotlight on Area Choirs During "A Christmas Carol"

Community choirs from across northeast Ohio will entertain patrons

A Christmas Carol at PlayhouseSquare.
CLEVELAND, OH – Fourteen area choirs from across northeast Ohio will provide musical merriment for audience members before select performances of Great Lakes Theater’s (GLT) 23rd annual production of A Christmas Carol (Carol) at the Ohio Theatre, PlayhouseSquare. Each thirty-minute, pre-performance concert will commence forty-five minutes before scheduled curtain times of A Christmas Carol in the festively decorated lobby of the Ohio Theatre.

The production has delighted more than 570,000 people in its history, making it one of northeast Ohio’s most-loved and best-attended holiday events.
