Classic Drama for the Middle School
An introduction to classic theater, this residency is a departure from our usual secondary-school focus on one play. The curriculum, developed with the help of a task force of middle-school teachers, is especially designed to address issues central to the experience of adolescence. Self-image, parental conflicts, peer pressure and prejudice are some of the themes explored through scenes from Romeo and Juliet, The Glass Menagerie, The Diary of Anne Frank, and A Raisin in the Sun (recommended for grades 6-8). New for older middle school students: explore Arthur Miller’s The Crucible (recommended for grades 8-12). Residencies are offered September 2008 through June 2009.
