Classic Children’s Literature for Grades 1-3
Imagination turns into action as students explore issues of self, community, prejudice and the capacity to give. Students, teachers and actors journey through multi-cultural myths and other timeless children’s literature by such authors as Ezra Jack Keats, Maurice Sendak, Dr. Seuss and more! A multidisciplinary activity packet compiled by 14 curriculum specialists and classroom teachers accompanies the residency and helps deepen the adventure brought to life in your classroom. Available October 2008-May 2009.

Classic Children’s Literature for Grades 4-6
Searching for the roots of creative expression itself, this residency celebrates classic mythology and folk tales as well as the work of contemporary writers such as Shel Silverstein and more. In the process, students apply critical-thinking skills, explore Pandora’s responsibilities to the world though an improvised trial, find loyalty, honor and support in the world of Damon and Pythias and don masks to examine questions of identity with a Korean princess and a turtle who wants to fly! Designed to nurture acceptance, creativity and community, the residency comes complete with a multidisciplinary activity packet compiled by 14 area educators. Available October 2008-May 2009.
